Salary: up to circa £95,000

As a brand-new unitary authority, North Northamptonshire Council has the opportunity to build the council of the future with our local communities. We are already well on our way to

developing our network of senior leaders, from Chief Executive to Assistant Director level. This leadership network is building a supportive “one-team” culture which will be central to our future approach and will create the solid foundations needed to drive future service improvements.

The Assistant Director – Safeguarding & Wellbeing – Adult Social Care will be a central role to this ambition. As a core member of the Strategic Leadership Team for Adult Services, you will be responsible for the strategic planning, engagement, operational and statutory delivery of key services and accountability for the financial and budgetary management and control of the budget for Adult Social Care. You will ensure that services are of a high quality and that practice and standards meet statutory requirements with all professionals working together to deliver Making Safeguarding Personal to shape and promote the safety of local residents.

This will require a detailed understanding of the legislative frameworks and statutory requirements relating to adult social care services and a detailed understanding of the scope of the Care Act and the remit and requirements of the Care Quality Commission. You will have a good understanding of the operational, commercial and social community aspects of a similar, diverse and complex environment across adult social care and a commitment to incorporating the public, private and voluntary sectors in service delivery.

This is a unique opportunity to be one of the first on the ground and help shape the culture and journey of transformation across North Northamptonshire. In return, we offer the successful candidate with the support and opportunities to exceed their potential and make a real difference in shaping a new unitary authority; a career defining experience.
